Learning japanese is simple if you're an anime/manga fan.
Just watch about 500 episode of anime (while paying attention to what they are saying), and then learn Hirgana, Katakana and you're good for reading shonnen/shoujo manga.
For Seinen/Jossei you need some time.  :study:

that's true. learning a language can be done and takes effort. it took me four years to learn french and it still takes constant "upkeep" to be able to hold onto it. but, japanese, for some reason, has frustrated me to no end. i fully intend to give it another shot.

we're currently in the process of learning mandarin, which has been surprisingly easy. my husband and i have close friends who moved to china a couple of years ago and they've been really pushing for us to come see them and check it out. they're convinced we'll want to stay. so, we're learning and saving up for the trip. plus, it's nice to be able to meet and understand some of their native chinese friends on skype.

so, i guess my point was, yeah, languages can be learned. japanese just seems to be more difficult than others.

of course... i also took spanish lessons for several years back in grade school, but that has all but completely drained itself out of my mind. i can't say but a handful of words in spanish.

anyway, language difficulty is up for debate and entirely dependent on the person learning.

I think learning a language isn't that hard if you spend some time and effort to do so...although it's also true that not everyone has that much time to do so.
