So u used a program that is designed to open videos, to read a manga? ROFL
Since a manga is made of images, u need the windows photo viewer which comes with the windows.
Also normally the archives comes in rar format, so first u need to unrar it. To do that u need the Winrar program, after installing it click with the right bottom at the file u want to unrar and choose "Extract to FILE NAME" option - it'll create a folder with same name of the rar file. Inside the folder should be the images, just double left click them and now u can the manga :D
Winrar site: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

mmm it's probably an issue with program association when you installed mediaplayer, shouldn't have let it associate itself with image files like .jpeg and .png, and only common vid files like .avi and .mkv.
just right-click the file > open with > choose default program for when you want to use other programs to open it.

Ok, let me help you here and everyone in Japanzai, for those interested. Extracting the files and reading them could sometime be confusing especially when you are reading a manga. So let me lift those troubles away. After this, you would be able to read manga in a whole different way.

STAND-ALONE READERS
:study:

Depending on your operating system, download a stand-alone reader below:

Windows (Tested on 2000, XP, Vista and 7, should work for 98 and below):
Mac OS (Tested on OSx 10 distributions from Cheetah to Mountain Lion, should also work on the beta versions) :
Spoiler for Hidden:

Linux (Tested on Ubuntu, Fedora Desktop, Linux Mint, should work with all linux distributions, just download some minor libraries for older versions) :
Spoiler for Hidden:

Android devices (Tested on Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb and ICS, should work for Android 1.5 and above):
iOS devices (Tested on the iPhone 3Gs, 4 and 4S, iPad 1 &2; should work with other iOS devices):
Spoiler for Hidden:

For the iOS, it's available in the app store when you connect through your device, and for android users, of course from the android market.

These programs I guarantee to be comic reader friendly and they are of course FREE. CAUTION: Some developers out there recreate these programs and distribute them using same or different name with different version numbers for cash. Download the original version instead, it's pretty simple but you could do all the manga reading you need already.

The second part is configuring your program, which of course just comes naturally. First you must validate your file or just skip this and proceed anyway. This is only essential when you're quite insecure about these things or paranoid about getting a virus from an archived file. Downloading and moving files to folders or other drives (like flash drives or external drives) could sometimes cause archives to become corrupt and unreadable. To validate just open your file from any archive reader.
Spoiler for Hidden:
For Windows there's winrar, winzip, 7zip and many more. For Mac you have the built in archive utility or use keka.
Make sure first that you test it for viruses. You don't have to worry about releases here from Japanzai or any official scanlator sites, just the archive files you get from some suspicious backdoor web pages.  :affraid:

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO EXTRACT YOUR FILES
. I repeat don't extract your zips and rars anymore. Just start the program (default configured already so don't worry about setting up a thing). If you are opening an archive (CBZ, ZIP, ACV, CBR, RAR, 7z,  lzh, arj, cab, tar.gz, tar.bz2, gzip or bzip2 -  most common here in Japanzai are ZIP, RAR and 7z), you could go to open and select the file from your computer. The easiest method is dragging the file to the body screen of the program. [/color]If in any case, you have already extracted your files, do not archive them anymore but make sure they are grouped in one folder then just use the ope folder feature. In case images showed up as x or missing pages, your archive is corrupt, download it again or fix it.  :fresse:

For Multiple Files:

Select all files, must be in order.

For Example:

Ch 01.zip
Ch 02.zip
Ch 03.zip
Ch 04.zip

Select Chapters 1 to 4 and with the cursor still on Chapter 1 drag them into the program body and there you have it, your manga from chapters 1-4.

Folders:

I recommend creating folders for each series you read, this way it would make things easier. There is actually an open folder option in these programs. All you have to do is arrange the files you have so that they appear in correct order and do the open folder command.

Thumbnails:

Thumbnails could appear at the left (or right) portion of your screen if you enable them. This is good for viewing single chapters but the application gets slower when you read like 1300 pages like me so don't do it if you're reading several volumes at a time.

Double pages:

You could view single pages or double pages at a time. For double pages please select the Japanese mode if you're reading a manga and turn it off if you are not.

Auto Resume:

This feature lets you resume where you left off. Works on multiple mangas.

Other features include auto colors (basic hue adjustments), auto slide show and printing the manga if you feel like having a hard copy around. I welcome more questions.

Boo, offline readers should be testing this

I just use Honeyview 3 then I don't even have to un-rar anything. I'll test out Koro's work sooner or later.

Go for it, but feedback is more helpful.

I recommend that as well, It's my current default photo viewer in windows. I'll wait for J-reader's improved release, good luck on that Koro.

Without feedback I won't know what you consider an "improved release" >.>

I'm running my tests right now, posting feedback after I finished another 3 volumes or so. What I can consider is probably what you would be satisfied of by yourself. Don't worry about us, we should adjust to your style not the opposite. That is my opinion anyway.
