If you haven't noticed, our releases have been down for a few weeks.  And though there have been various reasons, one of them is that we were preparing a new series for you!

Japanzai has been around for over a year and a half, providing regular scanlation releases for the reading public.  And now we're up to 800 releases.

And our 800th release is    Eighth

Another group released a chapter of this well over a year ago and stopped.  And the chapter had a number of problems in it, so we're starting from page 1.  However, that does not reflect negatively on the group in question, OMFGG.  Chapter 1 is long enough for five chapters with a metric ton of complex dialogue and concepts.  Just keeping track of who's whom when reading the raw scan is an exercise in frustration if you don't catch the subtle hints.  So we've gone through a lot to bring this to you.  We nearly killed a cleaner and translator. One typesetter quit and another is in the hospital from collateral damage.

And what is Eighth?  Eighth is an adventure story, full of intrigue, action, and science.  Plenty of sometimes rather insightful ecchi humor, this manga breaks many of the usual stereotypes.  The main character is Naoya, a simple security guard, a well-used pawn in a much larger scene.  In chapter 1 he goes off on assignment to rescue a damsel in distress.  In chapter 2, he... kinda does it again.  In chapter 3, he... is racing against time to save someone.  But in chapter 4, he's... oh wait, he's saving another girl.  There seems to be a pattern here.

Jokers and jackals, bullets and babes, this is an adventurous manga that's needed a home for a long time.  And that home is here at Japanzai.  It's a monthly manga, so they're cramming a lot of story into each chapter.  But to kick it off we've prepared ahead, and we'll release chapter 2 and 3 right after.  Chapters 4 and 5 are in the can and we're working on 6.  Expect a rapid release as we go through the volumes as fast as we can without killing our staff in the process.

A note from Katsudon:
As you know, VISCANS released chapter 2 a few hours ago, this is NOT a war against them as it seems like both of our teams have been thinking about doing this title.  Similar to what happened with Btooom! awhile ago.  Koro has initiated a dialogue with them, plus we do have friends from that group.  So something will work out, as I do not like waste of resources and all the work that's done will be released.   This series is a killer because we've planned this for months as our 800th release and beyond.

Koro: I've spoken with soranokira (VIS translator of Eighths, also someone who frequents this forum) and they've decided to drop it and let us take over. No hard feelings on either side, just extremely bad timing :/
