Need Help: Moth Problem.
« on: June 14, 2012, 04:50:21 am »
Moths have been secretly breeding themselves in my closet. In the past two days, I have managed to successfully squeeze the life out of four of them. In the past week, I have learned that moths turn everything grey if they're hit on hard objects (such as mirrors- really gross, btw).

Welp. I need HELPPPPPPPPPPPPP on how to get these multiplying demon moth babies OUT OF MY ROOM.

THEY LOOK LIKE THIS, AND IT FREAKS ME OUT.

*note: this isn't the exact moth, of course. i just nabbed the first brownish grey moth i could find... and i don't feel like taking a picture of the squished moths i have ._.

SOMEBODY. ANYBODY.

I. Need. Help.

Cats are like potatoes. You can never have just one.

Indeed, kill it with fire.
Or get a few spiders.
Don't take the things I say too seriously. Or literally. I don't speak in absolutes.
Everything I say should be taken with a grain of salt. It'll make both of our lives easier.

I say to sell your house and buy another, and don't forget to hid those moths otherwise you may not be able to sell it.
Now serious, You could call an exterminator.

This is what you do KF step by step
put your left foot in
you put your left foot out
you put your left foot in
and you shake it all about
you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around
because that what it's all about!
Do this for the rest of your body parts =)

at the end of the song the moths would be so bored of it they will leave.

I believe there are moth balls if you wanted to go down that path. Or just get an exterminator and save yourself from other pest such as mozzies and termites as well.

Every home should have a professional exterminator visit at least once a year, in the spring. Right now is the worst problem for you; I presume the rest of the year you keep your room clean and this kind of thing doesn't happen.

If you need a practical, no-professional way to deal with it, take all your clothes out of the closets and drawers and wash them (have the dry-clean only stuff dry-cleaned) along with your sheets and bedding and meanwhile use a fogger on your room.

The fogger won't necessarily kill eggs that are hiding deep in your clothes, but that's why the moths came there in the first place, to visit your cloth farm in the closet.

If you're not willing to do all that, get a bug zapper and leave it on overnight, turn off all the other lights in the room, then sleep in another room. See if they all get zapped before morning.

The most important predators of the codling moth are birds, bats, spiders, insects, and some mite species. All of them can feed on both codling moth eggs and young larvae (before entering the fruit).

guess you could add some bats, spider, insect and other mites to your room as to get rid of these moth.

Violence isn't going to solve anything.
Kindly ask them to leave. Moths are actually quite understanding.
